Judd and myself are on CalTV talking about the recent incident where Wikipedia started to block IP addresses from Capitol Hill due to bad-faith edits ("Wikipedia Traces Back ?Vandalism? to Capitol Hill"). Hopefully, we don't come off sounding particularly stupid after the edits.

Tasteless Prank Played on Senator Bowen

CA Senator Bowen had a tasteless prank played on her the other day where someone played "inappropriate sounds" during a conference call with hundreds of activists ("Was it a prank, or something more?"). That sounds like a tragic accident waiting to happen anyway... I've been on large conference calls, and it's always the case that one bad actor can muck it all up.

Join us in Vancouver, B.C., Canada, August 1, 2006, for the first USENIX/ACCURATE Electronic Voting Technology (EVT) workshop. EVT seeks to bring together researchers from a variety of disciplines, ranging from computer science and human factors experts through political scientists, legal experts, election administrators, and voting equipment vendors. The workshop will include short paper presentations as well as vibrant panel discussions with substantial time devoted to questions and answers. Attendance at the workshop will be open to the public, although speakers and presentations will be by invitation only.
