The Beatles: 40 years of rock...

The Beatles made their appearance playing "All My Loving" on the Ed Sullivan Show on 9 Feb 1964. About 73 million American households (40% of the population) watched that performance. Now if only their rights-holders weren't so stingy...

Bonus question: What was with all the screaming? I realize it was a display of affection but listen to this quote:

"I screamed so much at the afternoon [live] show that I had completely lost my voice by the evening. I remember crying because I couldn't shout. Couldn't hear them, of course, at either show. At least on 'Sullivan,' we could hear them." -Phyllis Gordon

What's the modern-day equivalent? Probably the "woo!" or "woo-hoo!" scream. They just don't make displays of affection like they used to. Posted by joebeone at Febrero 1, 2004 08:11 AM
