Yeah... quite thrilled about the fact that I will have to check my tiny duffel bag on my flight to Seattle tomorrow, as otherwise I might, y'know, brush the teeth of the passengers nearby, or gel their hair into unfashionable hairdos. CNN had a number of people expressing the above security rationale, or saying that well, they'd rather be safe. False dichotomies seem to be about the best way to frame any public issue, really - would you rather be watched at all times or dead? would you rather have all your music phone home, or have musicians starving in the streets? etc. :/ I really think Schneier should be required reading...

Pretty soon, you'll have to fly naked after a strip search. All baggage will be shipped separately.

Meanwhile, thousands more die from aggression by the U.S. in Isreal.

I propose an important variation on the question 'Do you have nothing to hide?'

Instead this whole thing makes me wonder: 'To whom should you have to prove that you have nothing to hide?' And in the case of airports, at least, where should you be required to prove it?
